Diego Luna & Gael Garcia Want Alejandro Fernandez As The Lead Actor In Their New Movie

Canana Films, Diego Luna and Gael Garcia's production company, is working on a movie about a performer that gets blackmailed by the mafia and, according to Diario Basta, Alejandro Fernandez has been offered the lead role. Hearing this made me roll my eyes all the way to the back of head until I started piecing everything together and came to the conclusion that el Potrillo is actually perfect for the part. I'm serious! Here, let me explain.

Alejandro Fernandez only has one movie under his belt: Zapata - El Sueño De Un Heroe. Unfortunately that was a huge flop and everybody hated it but, to Alejandro's credit, the script was awful and it's hard to polish a turd. This new project, however, will fit Alejandro like a glove for two reasons: 1) he's a real and successful performer 2) in 1998 his family was blackmailed by the Mexican mafia after his own brother was kidnapped (his bro was eventually released but he was missing a couple fingers). So even if Alejandro Fernandez is the worst actor in the world, there's no way he can't pull off something like this -- or at least put on decent performance, ¿que no?

Canana hasn't disclosed any details about the film and, as far as I know, it doesn't even have a name. Alejandro has until March to sign on to this project because shooting is set to begin sometime in June.
