Alejandro Fernández And Daughter Camila

Alejandro Fernández and daughter Camila sang "Hoy Tengo Ganas De Ti" on "Grandes Temas De Telenovela," but was that song appropriate? Televisa

Univision aired a special Sunday night that celebrated the best telenovela theme songs with "Grandes Temas De Telenovela." The television spectacular had artists like Thalia, Alejandra Guzmán, Emmanuel, Yuri, Mijares and many more. One of the highlights of the night was the closing number with Alejandro Fernández. The son of Vicente Fernández has voiced a lot of telenovela hits in the last couple of years. His bit started off with "Si Tu Supieras" from "María Isabel" followed by "No Se Me Hace Fácil" from "Tormenta En El Paraiso," "Si He Sabido Amor" from "Infierno En El Paraiso," "Quisiera" from "El Derecho De Nacer," "Que Voy A Hacer Con Mi Amor" from "La Esposa Virgen" and the themes for "Niña Amada Mía" and "Mañana Es Para Siempre." It was his last song that shocked everyone.

Fernández closed his medley of telenovela hits with the theme song to "La Tempestad." The tune we heard on television nightly was a cover of "Hoy Tengo Ganas De Ti," a duet Alejandro did with Christina Aguilera. Being that Aguilera wasn't going to show up to this event, Fernández suggested his daughter instead, but we found it a little odd. We like that he is helping his daughter into stardom and giving her the platform to succeed, but not with this song. This track is about a man wanting a woman so desperately and we just find that too creepy as it is a father and a daughter singing. It's still cute though that Alejandro is on stage with his daughter, just don't pay attention to the words they sing to each other. Watch Alejandro Fernández and Camila sing in the video down below and tell us what you think! (Their bit starts at the 8:40 mark)

It is a fact though that Camila and her father Alejandro had been singing this song before Christina came into the picture. It was Alejandro's idea to include his daughter in the tv special as the "La Tempestad" theme song was on the setlist. Camila has been learning how to sing at some of the top U.S. schools and is making her father proud. "I have asked her to really show me that this is really her passion and I will support her with all my heart," Fernández told TVyNovelas magazine. About touring with him, that's another story. "We are going to take her little by little. I have talked to her, her mother and all of the family," he added. "It's not going to be a launch like 'she's here, there she goes.' We will look for the best producers, musicians and choose songs from the best composers."
