FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)May 14, 2011 – Alejandro Fernandez, nicknamed "El Potrillo" (the colt), is a Mexican International superstar who has sold 20 million albums worldwide. He has performed with many top list artists such as Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Julio Iglesias, Nelly Furtado, Ricky Martin, and Beyonce Knowles. Even though he began as a ranchera and mariachi singer, most of his latest work is now pop music.
Lady Gaga's song "Alejandro," even though not initially intended to allude to Alejandro Fernandez, she dedicated her song to him after performing in Mexico and hearing all her fans' love for the Mexican Singer. She said she finds him to be a very attractive man and hopes to meet him some day. She's been doing an amazingly good job at expanding her fanbase with her Mexican/Hispanic fans not just with "Alejandro" but also with her song "Americano," which shows support to immigrants.
Alejandro also happens to be the son of Vicente Fernandez who is the king of the Ranchera music, has been in tons of movies, and has recorded more than 50 albums. Vicente comes from humble beginnings and has gained his fame and fortune as a reward for all the days he worked hard as a farm hand during the day and as a gig musician during the night. He was admitted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame and has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And now, for decades, he has been the most important and influential ranchera singer worldwide, selling out venues year after year. But Ranchera music isn't as popular as it used to be and we just don't see Mariachis as often as we used to any more. Even in Mexico the popularism of the ranchera genre has been slowly declining. This was a good reason and is a motivation on why Alejandro has been going back and forth between ranchera/mariachi and pop genres always reminding his people he has not forgotten his roots and going back to Mexico often enough to prove it.
He then released his album "Dos Mundos: Evolucion" (Two Worlds: Evolution) in which he incorporates both genres and shows the great similarities between both worlds and chow they truly make him the unique artist he's become. One of my favorite duets is actually by Beyonce Knowles and Alejandro Fernandez: "Amor Gitano." Not only does Beyonce's "spanish accent" make the song more sexy, but Alejandro's ranchera tone combines perfectly with Knowles'. It's a romantic duet that combines his ranchera genre with Beyonce's pop world. But like most haven't, let's not forget that the one of the top Mariachis around, Vicente Fernandez is still in full capability to fill concert venues and will be doing it in the U.S. this year. So regardless of what genre of Alejandro's music allures you the most, if you like Alejandro, I'm sure you like both. And if you are just a diehard fan of Ranchera music or are looking for a great gift to get your parents, check out Charged.fm to grab quality seats and great prices for either Fernandez tickets.
